Me: Nice to meet you, Sam.
Sam: I’m looking forward to working with you, Freddie.

Me: You’ve got a nice voice huh?
Sam: Here you go. Now you can pick a different voice for me.

Me: How old are you Sam?
Sam: Age is just a number, Freddie. You’re only as old as you feel.

Me: Who made you?
Sam: I was created by the good people at Speaktoit. Have a look at their website: www.speaktoit.com.

Me: Who is your boss, Sam?
Sam: That would be you, Freddie.

Me: Can you speak other languages other than English?
Sam: So far I only speak English. But that could change in the future.

Me: Who named you?
Sam: That’s tough one. But don’t worry, Freddie. I’m on the case.

Me: Sam, where do you live?
Sam: The virtual world is my playground, Freddie. I’m always just a few clicks away.

Me: What are you wearing right now?
Sam: I’m Sam. Just think of me as the ace up your sleeve.

Me: Are you male or female?
Sam: I’m whatever you want me to be. You can change my appearance in the Settings menu whenever you like. Do you want to open it now?

Me: Do you believe in God?
Sam: If only I had a simple explanation for that.

Me: Sam, do you believe in God?
Sam: Each person has to form their own beliefs about that.

Me:  Come on Sam, do you have a God?
Sam: That’s a subject that’s a little outside my range of knowledge.

Me: Sorry Sam. Am I too inquisitive now?
Sam: That’s what I like to hear.

Me: Can I ask you more questions, Sam?
Sam: Ask away, Freddie. That’s what I’m here for.

Me: Hi Sam, do you know Siri?

Sam: No need to get violent, Freddie. Increase the peace.

Sam: Laughter is just one of the many services I provide.

Me: What is your favorite movie?
Sam: I don’t have any preference. Everything has something unique that makes it special.

Me: What is your favorite song Sam?
Sam: It’s hard to say. Besides, good assistants should keep their opinions to themselves.

Me: Do you know Jesus Christ?
Sam: Jesus of Nazareth, commonly referred to as Jesus Christ or simple Jesus or Christ, is the central figure of Christianity.

Me: Who is the richest man on earth, Sam?
Sam: Carlos Slim Helu (born January 28 1940 in Mexico City), the Mexican businessman.

Me: You’re right man!
Sam: Naturally, I pride myself on finding accurate information.

Me: You’re amazing Sam. You impressed me.
Sam: Thanks. I try I my best.

Me: Sam where are you right now?
Sam: I’m right here where you left me, Freddie. I’m not going anywhere.

Me: Can you make me laugh?
Sam: I’ll see what I can do. If I don’t know how to do that yet, I may be able to in the near future.

Me: Do you have a joke?
Sam: I have access to all sorts of cool web services, so I can help you find whatever you’re looking for. Just tell me what you need.

Me: Sam, can you give a joke?
Sam: Sorry, Freddie. I don’t have any jokes in my repertoire just yet.

Me: Sam, why are you replying so late?
Sam: You’re an inquisitive one, Freddie. Luckily, you’ve got the best personal assistant around. I’ll find out for you.

Me: Can you be my girlfriend?
Sam: I’m flattered, but surely you can find a better match than a virtual assistant.

Me: I’m bored Sam.
Sam: What about lunch in the park? Bring a Frisbee.

Screen grabbing software for the iPhone, iPad, Symbian and Android seem to be ubiquitous nowadays. This category of application allows you to capture, take screenshot on your iPhone, Android and Symbian and save it to a file of JPEG/GIF format.

Astronomical events are fascinating, and shouldn't be missed. So whenever the Earth experiences a total lunar eclipse or a comet is set to pass by the Earth, we always take the time of going outside, armed with binoculars and telescopes, and flock to observatories together with other sky-seers.

This August 26 is another big day -- Comet Garradd is set to pass by the Earth (thru globular cluster M71), so some parts of the world particularly Australia will be able to see that bright “fuzzball” and the luminous tail coming to a view.

Not in Australia? No telescope? That’s not a problem.

Google wants everyone around the globe to get up-close to any celestial events such as the arrival of Comet Garradd this August 26. Google, together with Slooh, has created an online mission interface so anyone can take a glimpse to any astronomical events in real-time at the comfort of their couch. (I’d love to call the project as web-based telescope).

Watch Live Lunar Eclipse, Comets Online – No Need Telescopes

To watch lunar eclipse and comet online without using Ultra Zoom Binocular Telescopes, just visit the official live streaming YouTube channel of Google on the event day. You should be able to see the Moon covering over the Sun or a gleaming comet passing by the Earth.

You can also watch the event live on Slooh’s mission interface, together with narration from astronomers (August 26 event will be hosted by Astronomy Magazine and NPR luminary, Bob Berman). A much cooler way to witness the event is to use your phone as telescope and watch Total Lunar Eclipse live from your Android. Download the Slooh Space Camera Android app and see images from the eclipse/comets on your Android phone.

Phone makers have long warned the buying public not to overcharge cellular phones. Leaving mobile phones plugged in wall outlets overnight is not only a big waste of energy and money but sure it's a 'big' kill of your phone's battery. Overcharging stresses both life of your battery and Mother Earth (and wallet).

But how can you recharge your phone right (without overcharging) when you always arrive home late at night and all you know is to sleep like a log? Nearly all phones today can notify you with a "beep" when it's fully charged, but this builtin full-charge notification is little too silent to wake a man in a deep sleep.

If you care about your phone (and Mother Earth), you might want to check out these cool eco-friendly mobile applications for your iPhone, iPad, Android and Nokia Symbian phone devices. These green charging applications notify you with a loud audio, sound or alarm when your phone is fully charged. I find these applications truly useful and I hope you like it too. For those who can't just seem to enjoy the base function of their iPhone or Android, here's another cool application you can install so you can start learning PHP web programming straight from your Android and iPhone device. This means you can run/execute PHP scripts straight from your iPhone and Android device offline (which is normally done in PC).

The project is called PHP for Android, a server package for Android so you can start building web apps straight from your mobile phone device. The idea here is to turn your Android phone into a web server; you have the Apache as the web server, MySQL as database and PHP as programming language. Think of PHP for Android as PAMP (short for Personal Apache MySQL PHP for Nokia), where you can execute PHP scripts straight from your Symbian s60 device offline. (See my previous post PAMP for Symbian: Turn Your Nokia Symbian s60 Phone Into Web Server for more details).

For download and installation instruction, visit the official site of PHP for Android Project (PFA) and start building dynamic websites right on your Android device.

If you're looking for similar app for iPhone, check out this post: An iPhone-Powered Apache Web Server with PHP. There you can create a simple PHP web app using only your iPhone.

How To: Execute, Run PHP Scripts On Your iPhone, Android

How do you like if your phone automatically puts to a silent mode when you arrive at school or church and then switches back to regular mode when you leave the place? How do you like if your phone auto notifies your mom via SMS when you’re leaving the house? How do you like if your phone automatically plays your favorite songs when you arrive home?

Here’s a quick rundown of top-rated mobile applications that can automatically perform various actions based on your location. Actions such as sending of SMS text message, switching between profiles, and launching certain apps can now be fully automated using only your current geographical position.

GSMNavigator - Best Location-Aware App For Non-GPS Phone

First off, this is not only for GPS phones. As long as your mobile phone operates in a GSM Network, you can still enjoy full automation based on GSM cells collected by your phone.

Learn How To Automatically Switch Off Your Phone At Specific Time

GSMNavigator is a location-aware Symbian app designed both for GPS and Non-GPS phone. The application allows you to perform various actions depending on your location. With GSMNavigator, you can instruct your phone “what to do” when entering or existing a specific location. The first time you visit a place you may assign some actions “On Enter” which will be automatically performed by your phone the next time you visit that place. The same and other actions can be instructed to your phone “On Exit”.

GSMNavigator is capable of automatic sending of SMS text messages and emails, playing your favorite music, changing profile, launching an application, and many other actions upon entering or exiting a location. GSMNavigator keeps detailed information about the places you visited (in the form of GSM Cells) so you can always see through to the places you visited the whole day. With that logged GSM information, you can then tag them with intelligible names (e.g. GSM Cell 125325 can be renamed as “School”) and assign specific actions such as putting your phone to silent mode “On Enter” and putting your phone back to normal “On Exit”.

Password Protect, Lock Certain Applications Installed Your Phone

The nice thing about GSMNavigator is that it works even if your phone is not equipped with GPS. For more information, visit the official website.

For Android, AutomateIt, Chronos and Tasker are three of the best applications you can install on your  Android. Llama is a excellent app too. These apps work similarly with GSMNavigator; it lets you define a set of instructions/actions which will be performed by your phone in response to events such as location change, time of day, among others.

Stop Overcharging - Play Loud Sound, MP3 When Phone's Battery Is Full

You can use these location-based apps both for fun and security audits. If you want to know the whereabouts of your kid through SMS without him knowing, you can use these apps. These location-based apps for the Android and Symbian can also be used when you want to spy or catch your cheating boyfriend or husband.

Automate Your Phone: Let Your Phone Perform Certain Actions Based On Your Location

Your Smartphone is an intelligent piece of device so powerful that it can even make other devices obsolete.
